Developed by the United States Navy, this method uses body circumferences and height to estimate body fat percentage using logarithmic equations.

For males: Uses neck and waist circumferences.

For females: Uses neck, waist and hip circumferences.

The method has been validated against more expensive measurement techniques (DEXA, hydrostatic weighing) and provides a reasonable estimate for most people. However, all body composition methods have a margin of error.
